What Is Convoy for a Cure?
Convoy for a Cure is an annual all-women truck convoy for breast cancer research and awareness. The convoys, which are held in October during breast cancer awareness month, celebrate women in trucking and help raise money for this devastating disease which affects thousands of women and their families across North America each year.
Who Started Convoy for a Cure?
Convoy for a Cure is the brainchild of Rachèle Champagne, a Gatineau,
Quebec-based driver who steered the first convoy to success in 2008. With just three months planning, the first Convoy for a Cure, which ran from Cardinal to Cornwall, Ontario, raised $15,000 for breast cancer research and captured the imagination and support of truck drivers both in Canada and the U.S.
2009 Convoy for a Cure
In 2009, convoys in Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick, and Texas raised over $90,000 to support breast cancer awareness programs and help fund relevant and innovative research that is taking us closer to a future without breast cancer.
Planning is already underway for 2010 convoys; visit the convoy websites for more information:
